Really listening
It can be difficult to feel truly listened to.
Often the other person is caught up in their own world or quick to offer advice.
Advice that might work for them, but not for you.
And sometimes, it’s other people who are part of what’s going on.
I’ll be listening closely, and carefully. There’s no judgement here and no rush.
You’ll have all the space you need.
Anchored in the present
A lot of the time, we’re not really here.
We race ahead to worries about what might happen, or loop back to regret and self-judgement about what‘s been and gone.
We’re rarely tuned into what’s happening right now.
But the here and now is where we get to see more clearly — about the past, about what’s ahead.
That can open up more choices than we might think.
Let’s stay close to what’s happening now, and work from there.
Slowing down
When we take a break from charging ahead to the next thing, we often find there’s more going on than we realise.
You might notice how your thoughts pull your emotions this way and that.
Or you might feel… not much at all.
Whatever you’re experiencing, let’s work with that.
What your body’s telling you
We’re often so caught up in our heads that we miss what our body’s trying to say.
But your body - as much a part of you as your mind - is always saying something - through breath, how you sit, even restless hands or feet.
And our bodies always tell the truth - even if we’ve forgotten how to listen.
These messages matter. Let’s pay attention to them too.
